Our client, an architect asked us to replace an old and rotting deck along the length of the house. It wasn’t in good shape: the boards and framework was rotting; and there was a risk of damp as the existing deck had been built sloping towards the house meaning any rainwater was running onto the house rather than away from it.

As the deck was north facing and rarely got direct sunshine we advised the client to use Millboard man made decking: Millboard Plas Pro for the posts and Enhanced Grain deck boards. Millboard does not absorb moisture and is ideal for shady and moist areas.

We slanted the deck away from the house to reduce the chance of the wall becoming damp and added some facias and deck lights to finish off the effect.
